Allyssa Antunes
Originally from Minneapolis, MN, by way of El Paso, TX, Allyssa proudly calls Connecticut home, where she has lived for more than 30 years. A true “Army Brat,” her early experiences of moving around instilled both adaptability and resilience—qualities that have shaped her impressive career.
Allyssa’s professional journey began in early childhood education, but her passion for helping others succeed through learning quickly guided her toward adult education. From training at Panera Bread to developing programs at Verizon Wireless, she discovered her talent for designing learning experiences that empower people to thrive. That path ultimately led her to Yale University, where she currently serves as Lead Instructional Designer and Content Developer for Environmental Health and Safety.
At Yale, Allyssa has become a driving force in building effective, people-centered learning programs. She has taught technology courses, created curricula, and earned her M.S. in Instructional Design from Quinnipiac University. Her certifications in microlearning, project management, and business analysis further reflect her commitment to innovation. Beyond her department, Allyssa serves on Yale’s Learning Council, shaping training standards across the university.
Her leadership extends outside the classroom as well. As a longtime member and past Chair of the Future Leaders of Yale (FLY), Allyssa championed professional development and inclusivity, even guiding the group through the challenges of the pandemic. She has also been recognized with numerous honors, including the prestigious Dariusz Czarnota Award of Excellence (2024) and the Working Women’s Network Trailblazer Award (2019).
When she isn’t designing training solutions, Allyssa is likely exploring the world—she has already visited 24 countries and is planning her 25th. A dedicated runner and fitness enthusiast, she enjoys combining wellness with philanthropy, often participating in 5Ks for charity.
Looking ahead, Allyssa envisions herself in a senior leadership role, continuing to merge data-driven insights with instructional design to create impactful, inclusive learning experiences. With her passion for education, innovation, and community, Allyssa is truly an Ethnic GEM of New England.
